Chapter 17
Henry
Trying to get time to spend with Robert was more difficult than Henry had expected. For all his words about being free to come and go as he pleases, it wasnât strictly true. He had his role at Club Royal to think of, which was why he hadnât seen Robert in three days, since heâd left him on New Yearâs Day. They had messaged back and forth, and Robert had told him Aunt Louisa had given him the contract for Windsor Castle. He was happy for him.
The bass of the music vibrated through his leather-soled shoes, and he crossed his arms and studied the occupants of the main area of the club, checking to make sure everything was running smoothly. Heâd been on shift for an hour already, but he was ready to leave. He wanted to visit Robert, but that wouldnât happen for another two days. His mother had asked for his help in the garden the following day, and heâd arranged for a playdate for Dusty that night. He had cleared his Thursday schedule, though, so he could go to the shop to see him.
He waved across the room to get Douglasâs attention and moved his finger in a large circle to show he would do a walk around. Douglas gave him the thumbs up, and Henry stepped down from what he called the âlookoutâ position. There were always at least two monitors in the main area, walking the floor, and another four monitors would make the rounds on the other areas within the club. Naturally, Henry preferred the pet play area, but they all swapped around to keep them from getting bored.
Uncle Andrew had made an announcement at the club meeting the previous day, explaining the new rule that the royal family members did not have to be Dominants any longer. A murmur of disquiet had trickled around the room, but Henry couldnât tell if it had been good or bad. The king had also made a point of stating the harassment rules, telling the family in no uncertain terms that they would not tolerate anyone harassing someone because of their preferred role.
Henry had caught Charlesâs eyes at that moment, and the visible hatred had him trembling. Heâd forced his gaze away and refocused on his uncle. Despite the proclamation, which Henry wholeheartedly agreed with, he wasnât sure if he could do it. He knew George had already spoken with his father about him being submissive before the meeting, but the memories of what heâd seen still played in his mind every time he thought about coming clean.
The club appeared to be in fine form, and he weaved his way towards his post, greeting and stopping to talk to those who asked him a question. Before he stepped up, someone gripped his upper arm in a tight hold and crowded against his back.
âYou may have persuaded the king to change his opinions on submissives, but you wonât change mine,â Charles said in his ear. âAnd I see youâve also found someone whoâs willing to give it to you up the ass.
